Prague’s modern history has been marked by two periods of brutal occupation, and, since 1989. an exhilarating leap for freedom. Today’s city is both cosmopolitan and experimental, and at the same time conservative and culturally nostalgic, a duality reflected in all aspects of life, from its eclectic architecture to its music and cuisine.

What’s included

Among other architectural highlights, we will look at significant deco and cubist buildings in and around Wenceslas Square and the work of brutalist architect Karel Prager. We will see the church crypt where the paratroopers from Operation Anthropoid met their fate. We then proceed to the right bank of the river where we will take in the 1990s ‘Dancing House’ and the functionalist Mánes Gallery of 1930.

The tour includes an optional paid visit (220 CZK) to the permanent collection of František Kupka’s work in the Kampa Gallery.
