the story of Prague’s GARDENS

From renaissance-era Italian terraces to the romantic pastoral of the 19th-century ‘English style’, the gardens of Prague reflect the shifting politics and fashions of their times. From April to October, this seasonal tour takes in five exquisite gardens of the Castle and Mala Strana districts of the city: why not come on a walk through time?

Duration

Three hours at a relaxed pace. April to October ONLY

What’s included

We start on the Castle hill, with a visit to the earliest Royal Gardens of the 1530s before entering the castle complex and viewing the historic South Terrace, where the defenestration of Prague took place.  We descend via the private terraces of the Palffy and Kolowrat families to the magnificent Waldstein Gardens of the 1620s, now part of the Czech Senate.
